General Scope

Advise and represent private clients on their hospitality sector investments and expansion plans and oversee the management of their portfolio of hotel investments.

Owner Representative

Individual hotel project evaluation and implementation for owners.

Projects include:

• Managing a portfolio of hotel investments for a private individual – included representing him at Management committee meetings and the Board to ensure financial results as well as oversee renovation and expansion plans.
• Evolving an Investment Strategy followed by location specific implementation plans for an NRI Group based in East Africa looking to build hotel capacity at religious destinations across India.
• Represented owners in negotiations with collaborators for a Wild Life Lodge joint venture and an Inbound Tour Operating company. The scope of work included assistance in implementation and representing the investor on the Company Board.
• Evaluation and feasibility analysis for a proposed budget hotel in Mumbai.
• Setting up of a boutique hotel along with private villas for sale in Thailand, for a private hotel owner, in collaboration with a leading Indian hotel company.
• Feasibility, design and implementation of a hotel with private villas for sale in Goa.
• Evaluation and feasibility analysis for a luxury hotel cum spa with conference facilities in Alibag.
• Feasibility analysis for a developer of a mid market hotel business across 30 locations. This includes an exercise in segmentation, operator evaluation and development of product specifications.
• Set up an Investor Relations Program – both Public and Private equity raising for a major Indian hospitality chain.
• Revamping tertiary hotel operations for a large local chain.

Financial Services

Business Strategy – Foreign Bank

• Assisted a large South African Bank with India entry plans and ongoing advisory assistance to other business lines within the group to evaluate the India opportunity.
• Assisted with start up business planning and budgets.

India Wealth Management Entry Strategy and Implementation Plan for a large American Financial Services Group

• Helped the client develop a value proposition, entry strategy and an implementation plan for the wealth management business.

Corporate Credit Process Redesign – Large Public Sector Bank

• Redesigned the corporate credit process & ran implementation roll out across branches, nationally.

Asia – Consumer Finance Growth Plans – Concept and Implementation

• Worked with an American Financial Services company to help them expand their consumer finance footprint in Asia.
  • Assisted with overall Asia expansion strategy.
  • Implementation involved the acquisition of consumer finance companies in Thailand and India – including deal assessment, closure, and due diligence.

Pan Asian growth strategy for Swiss Insurance Major

• The project involved assessing and prioritizing opportunities in general and life insurance across key Asian markets, in the current economic environment.
• The work was the basis of an Asian market entry strategy for the company.

India Entry Strategy for an International Insurance Group

• Developed a strategic entry plan for general & life insurance as well as closed joint venture negotiation with the local partner.

Sales Force Effectiveness Review for Indian Life Insurance Company

• Detailed Review of Agency Force performance and recommendations to improve operational efficiency and productivity. The scope also included organizational redesign and advice on potential changes in key positions.

Private Equity

Industry assessments for potential investment opportunities

• Assisted a UK based fund look at industry specific opportunities in the financial services space.
• Assisted with initial deal evaluation.

Worked on the start up of a New Private Equity Fund

• The scope included initial fund raising documentation, deal evaluation and due diligence around investments in the initial startup phase.

Investment Strategy for a New Private Equity Fund

• Helped develop an initial investment thesis for a new private equity fund looking to focus on the Consumer Sector in India.
